An East Staffordshire jobs fair has been hailed a great success after hundreds of job seekers attended a jobs fair at Burton Market Hall earlier in May.
Burton Market Hall welcomed 434 jobseekers putting them in touch with 39 employers. 119 job seekers have already been recruited following the event.
Various employers attended the event to promote job and training opportunities and left feeling very positive about the event, particularly the organisation and venue. Employers included Derbyshire County Council, Dovecliff Hall Hotel, Derby County Community Trust and GI Group to name a few.
One employer said: “The event was useful as we had a lot of interest from Jobseekers. We booked 25 people in for follow up appointments to support them into work which is excellent”.
Councillor Mrs Julia Jessel, Deputy Leader for Regeneration, said: “The Job Opportunities Days have been running for eight years and these events continue to go from strength to strength.
“The job fairs offer a range of job opportunities, training opportunities; support towards self-employment; volunteering opportunities and general advice and guidance towards making important lifestyle decisions.
“These events offer routes to sustainable employment, which will assist in improving the quality of life, raising aspirations and provide a better standard of living to local residents.”
The next East Staffordshire jobs fair will be held at Uttoxeter Town Hall on 13th June 2018 from 9:30-12:30. Employers wishing to attend should contact either Jeanette Hines at Job Centre Plus [email protected] or the Enterprise Team at East Staffordshire Borough Council at [email protected] (or call 01283 508 625).
East Staffordshire Borough Council works in partnership with Jobcentre Plus, Burton and South Derbyshire College, Support Staffordshire (East Staffordshire Community and Voluntary Service), and Trent & Dove Housing to deliver the Job Opportunity Days. More recently the partnership has welcomed Burton and District Chamber of Commerce to the group.
