The Council is asking residents to check that they are placing the correct items into their bins and reminding households that black bags, used tissues and kitchen roll must be placed in your grey bin.
Unfortunately, the Council has noticed that some residents are placing black bags, used tissues and kitchen roll in their blue bins. The blue bins must be used for recycling material only and any bin found to contain the wrong items will not be collected.
Our collection crews check every bin as part of their daily duties and have been asked to be extremely vigilant with any items that could be classed as infectious. Items such as black bags, used tissues and kitchen roll must be placed in your grey bin.

Paper will be collected separately in your blue bag.
The material is sent to a recycling treatment facility, where some of it is separated by hand, and we need to ensure that there is no potential for the coronavirus to spread to the workers. In addition, an entire vehicle load can be rejected by the treatment facility if it contains black bags. This has to be paid for by the Council at a time when our services are under considerable pressure. We would urge all residents to support our efforts during these extremely challenging times.
