New Tourism Partnership to Launch in East Staffordshire

East Staffordshire Borough Council is seeking to create a new tourism partnership for the Borough.

The first meeting of the new East Staffordshire Tourism Partnership is due to take place on Thursday 9th June.

The partnership will seek to promote and develop the tourism industry within the Borough and will be made up of representatives from across the tourism sector covering local attractions, retail, food, accommodation, events, sport and leisure. So far the National Forest, Uttoxeter Town Council, Brewery Centre, Barton Marina, Brewhouse, National Forest Adventure Farm and Uttoxeter Racecourse have all confirmed an interest in becoming part of the partnership.

Councillor Bev Ashcroft, Deputy Leader for Tourism and Cultural Development said:

“We have a great range of attractions spread throughout the Borough including Tutbury Castle, the National Forest Adventure Farm, the FA Centre at St Georges Park, Uttoxeter Racecourse, Denstone Farm Shop, Blithfield Reservoir, Barton Marina, Hoar Cross Hall and the Brewery Centre to name a few. Burton is the Capital of the National Forest and we also have the Peak District, Alton Towers and the National Arboretum all on our doorstep.

“I’m really excited to see the launch of this new partnership, which will be an important step in promoting tourism within East Staffordshire.”

ESBC adopted a Strategic Tourism Plan in 2020, and the Council’s ambition to grow the visitor economy of East Staffordshire was set out in the 2022-23 Corporate Plan. This includes targets to develop a tourism brand, establish a Tourism Partnership and create a standalone website, as well as developing proposals for a landmark visitor and education centre to further bolster the Washlands as a new destination.
