Reminder on How Recycling is Processed

East Staffordshire Borough Council wants to help keep local residents informed on how their recyclable waste is collected and processed.

Collection crews collect and empty residents’ blue bags and blue bins into a split bodied collection vehicle before delivering the material to a Waste Transfer Station.

The recycling is then taken for sorting to a recycling facility in Birmingham to be separated into different material streams and then sent on for further processing.

Cllr Raymond Faulkner, Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate Change said: “It is important we know exactly how our recycling is processed, as this reinforces the importance of separating your recyclable waste from general waste. If we all work together, ensuring recycling is properly disposed of, we can help make our local area a greener place to live.”
