Burton Statutes Fair 2023

The Statutes Fair, operated by Pat Collins Fun Fairs, will be returning to Burton upon Trent this year, taking place from Sunday 1st to Tuesday 3rd October in the Market Place and the surrounding areas of High Street, Lichfield Street, New Street and Abbey Street.

The Fair will be open to the public at the following times:

•    Sunday 1st October, 1:30pm – 8:00pm

•    Monday 2nd October, 12:00pm – 11:00pm

•    Tuesday 3rd October, 12:00pm – 10:00pm

This year the Statutes Fair has been granted an extra day to provide residents and young children with disabilities a quieter and more comfortable introduction to the fair.

Fairground staff will arrive on site on the evening of Saturday 30th September to begin building the fair.

Road and car park closures will also be in position from 4:00pm on Saturday 30th September until 6:00am on Wednesday 4th October, allowing the funfair to close, and clear, and the streets to be swept and allow normal business to continue.

Road closures include:

•    Market Place – Closed to all traffic

•    High Street - Closed to through traffic from its junction with Station Street to Lichfield Street.

•    New Street - Closed to through traffic from its junction with High Street to its junction with Union Street

•    Lichfield Street - Closed to traffic from its junction with High Street to its junction with Bond Street

•    Abbey Street - Closed to traffic from its junction with Lichfield Street to its junction with Fleet Street

Pat Collins Fun Fairs have been associated with Burton upon Trent for over 100 years. The Statues Fair is the modern day successor to the traditional labour hiring fair that was held in the town each year on the first Monday and Tuesday after Michaelmas.

Cllr Paul Walker, Cabinet Member for Tourism and Cultural Development, said: “It’s great to see the Statutes Fair return for another year, lighting up the streets of Burton and providing entertainment for both residents and visitors to the Borough. I hope all those that attend have a wonderful time!”
