The Burton Barrel Roll is a 10-week, 14 piece art trail being held in Burton upon Trent this summer.
Designed by art trail specialists, Making Trails, Burton’s first 3D trail celebrates the importance of brewing with its impressive barrel design, whilst highlighting the lesser-known heritage points and places of interest in within the National Forest.
By downloading The Burton Barrel Roll App, or collecting a paper map from either The Brewhouse Arts Centre or Cooper Square Shopping Centre, visitors can explore the area, improve their local trivia knowledge, unlock the sculptures for special rewards and enjoy their day out as the move from sculpture to shops and eateries, vibrant green spaces and beautiful architecture.
Supported by the East Staffordshire Borough Council Ward Enhancement Fund, The Burton Barrel Roll aims to carry on its positive impact by using money raised from the sale of the barrels to further support public arts initiatives.
Cllr Paul Walker, cabinet member for Tourism and Cultural Development said “I am extremely proud of the work that our local artists, businesses and sponsors have achieved by creating this vibrant and engaging trail, one that not only showcases some of our rich heritage and hidden talents, but supports our local businesses and encourages people to visit our beautiful town”
The Burton Barrel Roll runs until 15th September and will end with a Barrel Rolling event on Shobnall fields for Cancer Research. For more information on the project and how you can get involved go to www.makingtrails.co.uk/burtonbarrelroll
